Invitation Registration now open! Free Society Conference and Nordic Summit Gothenburg, Sweden, 9-11th November 2012 http://www.fscons.org/ The Free Society Conference and Nordic Summit (FSCONS) is the Nordic countries largest meeting place between Free Software, Free and Digital Culture and Free Society. Gathered around a series of interesting themes, more than 50 speakers will talk on a wide array of topics that engage and inform. Topics for 2012 include Decentralising Society, Embeddded systems, FS Feminism, General Purpose Computing, Legal, Open security, Web science and Wikimedia. During the conference, organizations and projects will also be available and present their work including the Creative Commons, Debian, Free Software Foundation Europe, Wikimedia. Speakers and sessions The full program of the conference will be available on https://fscons.org/2012/schedule/ Among the 50 speakers we find Carsten Munk (DK) who will present the Mer Project,a GNU/Linux distribution that target mobile and embedded devices and intend to be the succeeder of Meego. Ph. D. Börje Ekstam and Scholar Pia Palm from Linnaeus University will explain how Wikipedia can used as a learning tool in university courses where students as part of their education are trained to write hight quality scientific content in a easily understandable way by using and contributing to Wikipedia. Francisco Blas (ES) is a Gentoo developer that will talk about the different security features that can be found in Gentoo Hardened distribution. FSCONS veteran Karin Kosina (kyrah) questions governments talks about that there is an ongoing cyperwar and suggest that the rhetoric in instead creates new security problems. Before and during the conference days, a number of workshops with different topics will also be organized. It is a loot look forward on about this years edition of FSCONS. Registration Registration is now open at https://fscons.org/2012/registration/ and starts at 400 SEK (about 46€) for early bird tickets (which we have a limited number of). The registration includes access to all of the conference program, all social events and coffee and tea during the two conference days. We hope to meet you in Gothenburg in November!
