This is probably the most fun task, as you can be called for anything at any given point in time. If nothing unplanned happens however, you should not be called. In other words these guys are called if another person from the staff has to leave unexpectedly, gets sick or we just need a helping hand somewhere. This could be considered "semi free" time.

Keynote

This is just like one of the other rooms, the staff takes care of the speakers needs, water, sound etc, keeps the audience calm, coordinates the q&a session which should follow every talk. You should also signal the speaker how much time he has left, for this we will provide signs saying 15, 10 and 5 minutes. After the speech the staff will stay in the room for about an hour to help the speaker to finish up look for trash etc., in other words make the room ready for the next speech.

Tasks in short:

- keep audience calm

- show speaker time left

- help speaker to wrap up after the talk

timing: please be there 5-10 minutes before the speech starts, so that you can get misc info by the last team

You should also signal the speaker how much time he has left, for this we will provide signs saying 15, 10 and 5 minutes. After the speech the staff will stay in the room for about an hour to help the speaker to finish up look for trash etc., in other words make the room ready for the next speech. As part of this the staff should also help the next speaker to set up his/her technical equipment, run the slides and test any other thing that needs testing.

Tasks in short:

- check if video equipment is running and working normally

- introduce speaker

- keep audience calm

- show speaker time left

- moderate q&a and block unqualified questions which do not relate to the topic

- help speaker to wrap up after the talk

- clean a bit and reposition chairs etc

- help next speaker to set up

- check if video equipment is running and working normally (yes please do this as often as possible)

- hand over to the next "staff-team"

timing: please be there 5-10 minutes before the speech starts, so that you can get misc info by the last team

Registration

At the registration desk you will be the first person the guests meets, thus priority number one: SMILE and be HAPPY (happy pills will be distributed accordingly) ;)

When the guest comes, she/he will give you her/his name, hopefully you have a running system at your disposal (mirko's job to make that happen) in which you will then enter name and it tells you if that person exists or not. FOr backup you will also have a list of all visitors. Please mark them as "arrived" in the online system and cross them from the list. You will also be able to see whether the person has paid, if she/he hasn't please offer them the possibility to pay on-site or ask for proof that she/he has paid. If everything is ok, please hand the person his/her badge and food-stamps if applicable (info will also be available at the registration desk.

Reception

The reception desk will be the main-info point of FSCONS. Here you will be asked about directions in regards to the rooms, will be asked what is on the schedule etc. A complete info-pack will be at your disposal, which we wil hopefully finish before than and we would kindly ask you to study it. The speakers will also be sent to you once they arrive at the venue and one of the staff should then take care of him/her.

Tech Support

I guess this one is rather obvious, you will be the people called if something doesn't work. It would inherently be good if this was carried out by Gothenburgians as we would have the time to give you a detailed instruction session before the conference. Henrik leads this department at FSCONS, he will be the master of it all when it comes to techy stuff ;)

Food Support

Depending on the time you will here do one of several tasks:

morning coffee:

this is for the people that cannot sleep, 'be on-sight by 8 (in my terms that is 7.45 and brew the first coffee, open everything up and smile when the guests arrive ;) Maybe we will even add get buns and make them look yammy, we'll see about that.

making coffee:

k, that one is too simple ;)

prepping lunch:

depending on the layout of the lunch there will be minor things to prepare as in sorting the food (vegy - non vegy) and make it easily distributable

during lunch:

distribute the lunch, check food-stamps, collect used plates etc

after lunch (first keep coffee coming group and during lunch group):

go around, collect empties etc, clean up etc.

Press-Support

We will have several press-representatives at FSCONS. If you are press-support you will keep them happy and feed them with info whenever they need it. We are uncertain if that is gonna be stationary or if you should be running around ;)

Movie-Room

Very simple, keep the movies running ;) and the room somewhat clean. At the times when there is a screening of a feature-length film one person from the adm team will be present to help out and at least one jumper.

Jumper

This is probably the most fun task, as you can be called for anything at any given point in time. If nothing unplanned happens however, you should not be called. In other words these guys are called if another person from the staff has to leave unexpectedly, gets sick or we just need a helping hand somewhere. This could be considered "semi free" time.
