Activists from all Nordic Countries come together in order to fight for Freedom
The Free Society Conference and Nordic Summit (FSCONS) organizing team announced today, that they have confirmed speakers from all 5 Nordic countries - Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
We are very happy to have representatives and participants from all 5 Nordic countries, says Henrik Sandklef, a Gothenburgian himself and on the board of FSCONS 2008, it shows that the people here care that they want innovation and change.
FSCONS has presenters from more than 10 countries in total lined up for their event at the IT University in Gothenburg. From October 24th to 26th, artists, hackers and writers will give an overview over the current state of freedom around the globe. Special emphasis is given to the digital sphere - its content, its creation and the technology behind it.
"Broadening FSCONS' scope to include Free Culture, Free Software as well as Free Content was the best step we could take", declares Stian Rødven Eide, one of the FSCONS organisers, proudly. "The response from within the Free Software camp as well as the Free Culture and Free Content activists was amazing and we are proud to be a part of it."
Stian and the other team members have managed to assemble a list of speakers which combines heavily technical speeches such as "Coreboot" and "Ubuntu Deployment for Your Enterprise" with highly charged topics like John Buckman's "Squeezing the Evil out of the Music Industry" as well as a look into the future with "Digital Fabrication and Social Change", given by Sm�ri McCarthy of the Icelandic Fab Lab. Projects such as Open Street Map, Debian, CC Mixter, and, of course, Wikipedia will also be present.
FSCONS is co-organized by Creative Commons Sweden, Free Software Foundation Europe and Wikimedia Sverige.
