Freedom Box is the working name for a small computer which will help reclaim freedom on Internet.

The goal of the Freedom Box is to dehierarchialize and bring back ease of use, privacy and security to Internet users. Features that have been discussed are: Diaspora (distributed social networking), encrypted backup to your friends, tor encrypted public wifi, asterisk server, proxy, statusnet, mail.

All this should fit inside a plug computer (that is a computer which is as big as a power transformer plug) and be what the answering machine was to the 80's; available on every store around the corner, cheap, and minimal configuration and then not having to touch it again.
