Invitation for sponsorship

Welcome to another exciting Free Society Conference and Nordic Summit, 13-15 november 2009 in Göteborg, Sweden. Last year, the conference attracted more than 200 enthusiastic members of the free software and free culture movement for a two day programme with, among others, Mike Linksvayer and John Buckman (USA), Henri Bergius (Finland), Knut Yrvin (Norway), Henrik Moltke (Denmark), Rasmus Fleischer (Sweden), Smári McCarthy (Iceland), Frank Schulenburg (Germany), Denis Jaromil Rojo (Netherlands), Yves Degoyon and Valentina Messeri (Spain) -- all Nordic countries, and nine different nationalities.

Changes from last year

For those of you who have sponsored FSCONS in the past, some news are to be expected for FSCONS 2009. In our previous location, we were limited to accepting around 200 participants. For this year, we're aiming at moving to a new location in Gothenburg in order to be able to support more participants. We're also aiming at significantly reducing the participation fee, especially for students and members of the community, in order to fully realise the goal that FSCONS should be a meeting place for everyone.

A consequence of this is that a number of new sponsor packages open up, including the new Student sponsorship in which an organisation can sponsor student participation in the conference, and some high level sponsorships which will help us significantly in covering the costs of the conference.

We hope that you will be interested in joining us as a sponsor this year as well!

About

The Free Society Conference and Nordic Summit (FSCONS) is a meeting place for social change, focused on the future of free software and free society. The the growing speed of new and innovative changes taking place within digital culture, as well as the pressing need for members of a marginalised society to gain access to important, updated information without financial or governmental barriers, the 2009 FSCONS will deal with an array of hot topics.

Open discussion and brainstorming are two of the primary factors that pave the way for change. The conference seeks to engage, inform and motivate social change through these discussions. In addition, FSCONS will be a meeting place for the digital revolution, providing presentations, workshops and showrooms, as well as social events in the evenings. Due to the variety of participatns from across the digital spectrum, the conference offers the opportunity to connect prospective partners to further the goal of free culture and free software.

The essential goal of FSCONS is expansion: expanding the accessability of digital and technological information to everyone in the world; expanding the interest and promotion of free culture and free software; expanding the opportunities for all interested parties from around the globe to engage with others in hopes of changing the future of digital culture.

Other

Aside from the specific sponsorship packages listed, we have a few more specific packages which would help us with specific aims of FSCONS 2009, such as reducing the fees for participating students. We would of course also be interested in hearing your own idea about your contribution to FSCONS, and would be happy to work with you to create a customised package that works for your organisation.

Student sponsorship

One of the goals for FSCONS 2009 is to drastically reduce the cost for participating students. As a potential sponsor, you could help us achieve this by sponsoring the registration fee for students to participate in the conference. The benefit for you as a sponsor is that your name will be displayed very prominently in the registration form, showing that you are sponsoring the participation for those registering as students. We expect between 100-200 students to participate, and would request a minimum contribution before the conference for 100 student fees (5,000 EUR total). After the registration closes, we would sum up the total number of registered students. If the total is then above 100, we would invoice you separately after the conference for the difference.
